Post Falls is a city in Kootenai County on the Rathdrum Prairie, along the Washington and Idaho border. It lies on Interstate 90, about 20 miles east of Spokane and just west of Coeur d’Alene, with the Spokane River on its southern edge.

The city is named for Frederick Post, who built a lumber mill on the Spokane River in 1871 on land purchased from Andrew Seltice, chief of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. That purchase is recorded in a pictograph on a granite cliff in Treaty Rock Park. The historic Post Falls Dam and Falls Park on the river are local landmarks.

Post Falls sits at about 2,180 feet and has four distinct seasons. Air service is through Spokane International Airport.
